U Got It Bad

Hey guys! It’s 2008 - another brand new and exciting year for everyone. A time to move on with our lives with joy and optimism. But before we take a step forward, let’s try to recall the best of yesterday with songs that brought music to the next level. Here’s a masterpiece from Usher that sure made it to the Billboard charts a few years ago. Check it out!

***
U Got It Bad
Usher

Oh, no, no, no, no, no…

When you feel it in your body
You found somebody who makes
you change your ways
Like hanging with your crew
Said you act like you’re ready
But you don’t really know
And everything in your past -
you wanna let it go

I’ve been there, done it, fucked around
After all that - this is what I found
Nobody wants to be alone
If you’re touched by the words in this song
Then baby…

U got, u got it bad
When you’re on the phone
Hang up and you call right back
U got, u got it bad
If you miss a day without your friend
Your whole life’s off track
You know you got it bad when
you’re stuck in the house
You don’t wanna have fun
It’s all you think about
U got it bad when you’re out with someone
But you keep on thinkin’ bout somebody else
U got it bad

When you say that you love ‘em
And you really know
Everything that used to matter,
don’t matter no more
Like my money, all my cars
(You can have it all)

Flowers, cards and candy
(I do it just cause I’m…)
Said I’m fortunate to have you girl
I want you to know
I really adore you
All my people who know what’s going on
Look at your mate, help me sing my song
Tell her I’m your man, you’re my girl
I’m gonna tell it to the whole wide world
Ladies say I’m your girl, you’re my man
Promise to love you the best I can

See I’ve been there, done it, fucked around
After all that - this is what I found
Everyone of y’all are just like me
It’s too bad that you can’t see
That you got it bad…hey

U got, u got it bad
When you’re on the phone
Hang up and you call right back
U got, u got it bad
If you miss a day without your friend
Your whole life’s off track
You know you got it bad when
you’re stuck in the house
You don’t wanna have fun
It’s all you think about
U got it bad when you’re out with someone
But you keep on thinkin’ bout somebody else
U got it bad

U got, u got it bad
When you’re on the phone
Hang up and you call right back
U got, u got it bad
If you miss a day without your friend
Your whole life’s off track
You know you got it bad when
you’re stuck in the house
You don’t wanna have fun
It’s all you think about
U got it bad when you’re out with someone
But you keep on thinkin’ bout somebody else
U got it bad

Get Your Kicks On Route 66

Route 66 makes you think. Makes you dream. Makes you drive West. Those are the reasons why you want to kick on route 66…

***

Route 66
Rolling Stones

Well if you ever plan to motor West
Just take my way that’s the highway that’s the best
Get your kicks on route 66

Well it winds from Chicago to L.A.
More than 2000 miles all the way
Get your kicks on route 66

Well goes from St. Louie down to Missouri
Oklahoma City looks oh so pretty
You’ll see Amarillo and Gallup, New Mexico
Flagstaff, Arizona don’t forget Winona
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernadino

Would you get hip to this kindly tip
And go take that California trip
Get your kicks on route 66

Oklahoma City looks oh so pretty
You’ll see Amarillo and Gallup, New Mexico
Flagstaff, Arizona don’t forget Winona
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernadino

Would you get hip to this kindly tip
And go take that California trip
Get your kicks on route 66

My Car

Ever since I have learned listening to good music, I’ve learned to appreciate the works of Gin Blossoms. And when it comes to my fave Gin Blossoms tune when I’m driving my car, I would say that “My Car” tops the list.

So if you want to listen to Gin Blossoms’ My Car, here’s the words to it:

My Car
By Gin Blossoms

Streetlights on, the night air’s cool
I’m driving right past my old school
I’m looking for my pack of cigarettes
I’m thinking back on things I’ve done
I can’t forget the stupid ones
It seems I do my best by accident
What’s that sound, what’s that song
What’s this street I’m driving on
In my car
In my car
I miss her feel, her touch, her taste
I feel the distance everyplace
This distance can’t be taken casually
I take my time, just drive around
Feeling lost in my hometown
Every turn I take is comforting
What’s that sound, what’s that song
What’s this street I’m driving on
In my car
In my car
I’ll take a break from all their big plans
My first mistake was listening to them
I made a mess it’s all been proven
Over and over again
Over and over again
Streetlights on, the night air’s cool
I’m driving right past my old school
Looking for some face I can’t forget
I take my time, just drive around
Feeling lost in my hometown
Every turn I take’s an accident
What’s that sound, what’s that song…

Video Killed The Radio Star

Who killed the radio star? It’s the video! Wow. How can I forget about this piece of music from the official soundtrack of The Wedding Singer? Oh man, this is classic. Adam Sandler and company made history through this movie. Video Killed the Radio Star was originally sung by the Baggles in the ‘80s and later on revived by thePresidents of the United States of America in the mid 90s. Here are the lyrics of the song…enjoy!

***

Video Killed The Radio Star

I heard you on the wireless back in Fifty Two
Lying awake intent at tuning in on you.
If I was young it didn’t stop you coming through.
Oh-a oh

They took the credit for your second symphony.
Rewritten by machine and new technology,
and now I understand the problems you can see.
Oh-a oh

I met your children

Oh-a oh

What did you tell them?

Video killed the radio star.
Video killed the radio star.

Pictures came and broke your heart.
Oh-a-a-a oh

And now we meet in an abandoned studio.
We hear the playback and it seems so long ago.
And you remember the jingles used to go.
Oh-a oh

You were the first one.
Oh-a oh

You were the last one.

Video killed the radio star.
Video killed the radio star.

In my mind and in my car,
we can’t rewind we’ve gone to far

Oh-a-aho oh,
Oh-a-aho oh

Video killed the radio star.
Video killed the radio star.

In my mind and in my car,
we can’t rewind we’ve gone to far.

Pictures came and broke your heart,
put the blame on VTR.

You are a radio star.
You are a radio star.

Video killed the radio star.
Video killed the radio star.

Video killed the radio star.
Video killed the radio star.

Video killed the radio star.
(You are a radio star.)

What’s Greased Lightnin’ Like?

Remember Grease? I have etched that musical in my mind. I love the songs and the choreography. The film, which was released to theatres in 1978, stars John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing, Jeff Conaway and Eve Arden.

Travolta, the leading man, is an award-winning American actor, dancer and singer. One of the awesome scenes in the movie is when he sings Greased Lightnin’…

***

Greased Lightnin’
John Travolta

Well this car is systematic, hydromatic, ultramatic
Why, it could be Greased Lightnin’!
We’ll get some overhead lifters and some four barrel quads, oh yeah
Keep talkin’, whoah keep talkin’!
Fuel injection cut off and chrome plated rods, oh yeah
I’ll get her ready, I need to get her ready!
With a four-speed on the floor, they’ll be waitin’ at the door
You know that ain’t shit when we’ll be gettin’ lots of tit
Greased Lightnin’

Go, Greased Lightnin’
You’re burnin’ up the quarter mile
Greased Lightnin’, go Greased Lightnin’
Go Greased Lightnin’
You’re coasting through the heat lap trails
Greased Lightnin’, go Greased Lightnin’
You are supreme
The chicks’ll cream
For Greased Lightnin’
Go go go go go go go go

We’ll get some purple pitched tail lights and thirty inch fins, oh yeah
A palomina dashboard and duel-muffler twins, oh yeah
With new boosters, plates and shocks
I can get off my rocks
You know that I ain’t braggin’, she’s a real pussy wagon
Greased Lightnin’

Go, Greased Lightnin’
You’re burnin’ up the quarter mile
Greased Lightnin’, go Greased Lightnin’
Go Greased Lightnin’
You’re coasting through the heat lap trails
Greased Lightnin’, go Greased Lightnin’
You are supreme
The chicks’ll cream
For Greased Lightnin’
Go go go go go go go go

Go, Greased Lightnin’
You’re burnin’ up the quarter mile
Greased Lightnin’, go Greased Lightnin’
Go Greased Lightnin’
You’re coasting through the heat lap trails
Greased Lightnin’, go Greased Lightnin’
You are supreme
The chicks’ll cream
For Greased Lightnin’
Go go go go go go go go

Jesus Take The Wheel

I know, the title sounds very holy and yes, I am sharing this in the name of Christmas season once again. It’s Jesus Christ’s birthday, so you better bear with me and give the song a little listen. Anyway, this hit single from Carrie Underwood struck my soul big time! If you want to know why, just read the lyrics. And oh, you can sing it if you have the American Idol voice quality!

***

Jesus Take The Wheel

Carrie Underwood

She was driving last Friday on her way to Cincinnati
On a snow white Christmas Eve
Going home to see her Mama and her Daddy with the baby in the backseat
Fifty miles to go and she was running low on faith and gasoline
It would been a long hard year
She had a lot on her mind and she didn’t pay attention
She was going way to fast
Before she knew it she was spinning on a thin black sheet of glass
She saw both their lives flash before her eyes
She didn’t even have time to cry
She was sooo scared
She threw her hands up in the air

Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
Cause I can’t do this all on my own
I’m letting go
So give me one more chance
To save me from this road I’m on
Jesus take the wheel

It was still getting colder when she made it to the shoulder
And the car came to a stop
She cried when she saw that baby in the backseat sleeping like a rock
And for the first time in a long time
She bowed her head to pray
She said I’m sorry for the way
I’ve been living my life
I know I’ve got to change
So from now on tonight

Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
Cause I can’t do this all my own
I’m letting go
So give me one more chance
To save me from this road I’m on

Oh, Jesus take the wheel
Oh, I’m letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I’m on
From this road I’m on
Jesus take the wheel
Oh, take it, take it from me
Oh, why, oh

Christmas Rhapsody

I guess it’s not that late if I gave another Christmas song today, right? So here’s another cheerful song that has a catchy title. If the band Queen has their immortal song called the Bohemian Rhapsody, the holidays have the Christmas Rhapsody as well! It does sound cool and amusing. Try to read the lyrics below and sing along with me!

***

Christmas Rhapsody

Is this the Yuletide?
It’s such a mystery
Will I be denied
Or will there be gifts for me?
Come down the stairs
Look under the tree and see
I’m such a bad boy
I get no sympathy
‘Cause I’ve been raising Cain, raising hell
Don’t behave very well
Waiting for the sleigh bells
Christmas really matters to me
To me

Santa, been really bad
Been writing on the wall
Broke a window with my ball
Santa, Christmas coming soon
But now I’ve gone and thrown my toys away
Santa, oooh
I wanna see the reindeer fly
If you’re not down my chimney by tomorrow
Gonna cry, gonna cry
‘Cause Christmas really matters

Too late
Yuletide has come
Hanging stockings by the fire
Singing carols with the choir
Goodnight everybody, it’s time for bed
Gotta listen for the reindeer on the roof
Santa, oooh
I just want a toy
Sometimes wish I’d never been bad at all

I see a jolly silhouetto of a man

Santa Claus, Santa Claus,
Will you come down my chimney?
Donner and Blitzen, Cupid and Vixen, please!
Pull the sleigh-o, pull the sleigh-o
Pull the sleigh-o, pull the sleigh-o
Santa, please don’t give him coal (give him coal…)

I’m such a bad boy, nobody loves me
He’s such a bad boy, from a bad family
Big chunks of coal should go under his tree

Raising Cain, raising hell, please don’t give me coal
Kris Kringle! No! Do not give him coal!
(Give him coal…)
Kris Kringle! Do not give him coal!
(Give him coal…)
Kris Kringle! Do not give him coal!
Do not give him coal!
Do not give him coal!
Never, never give me coal…

No, no, no, no, no, no, no!

C’mon Santa, c’mon Santa
Santa please don’t give me coal
St. Nicholas has a lump of anthracite for me
For me
For meeeeee

So you think you can snub me and give me no gifts
So you think you can put me on your bad boy list
Oh, Santa
Can’t do this to me, Santa
Just gotta be nice
Just gotta be nice for next year

Christmas really matters
Anyone can see
Christmas really matters
Christmas really matters to me

Waiting for the sleigh bells…

Twelve Days Of Christmas

It’s the yuletide season and I love it! Why don’t we try to sing along with one of the world’s joyful Christmas cheers? How about The 12 Days of Christmas for a change huh? Of course it’s a cool song! For the past 2 weeks, I’ve been singing that song with my friend inside the car! I mean, it’s fun to memorize the lyrics and sing along with your friends and loved ones. I best recommend this song while you’re fixing your car - like cleaning the valve cover gasket. Try it!

Here are the lyics of the song and all you need to do is open those mouth wide enough to generate a wonderful and solid singing voice! Have fun!

***

The Twelve Days of Christmas (12 Days of Christmas)

On the first day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
A partridge in a pear tree.

On the second day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

On the third day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

On the fourth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

On the fifth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

On the sixth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

On the seventh day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

On the eighth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Eight maids a-milking,
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

On the ninth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Nine ladies dancing,
Eight maids a-milking,
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

On the tenth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Ten lords a-leaping,
Nine ladies dancing,
Eight maids a-milking,
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

On the eleventh day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Eleven pipers piping,
Ten lords a-leaping,
Nine ladies dancing,
Eight maids a-milking,
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

On the twelfth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Twelve drummers drumming,
Eleven pipers piping,
Ten lords a-leaping,
Nine ladies dancing,
Eight maids a-milking,
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree!

On The Road Again

Who wouldn’t want to enjoy a road trip? Everybody wants that for sure.

Maybe, you’re tired of the usual hustle and bustle. Some things are pretty boring. Certainly, you want a new outlet to save you from monotony. How you wish to take a leisurely drive. That’s when you say you’re really back on the road again. This time, it won’t be a simple chore of buying air filter recharge kit or groceries. It’s far better.

Aerosmith tells me how it feels to be back on the road again…Sing with me.

***

On The Road Again
Aerosmith

Yeah, woke up one mornin’
I’m a ram up for walls
Somethin’ told my baby
You can have it all
Jump trough the window
Look my life in the den
Look out pretty mama
I’m on the road again

I’m on the road again
(And you can do what you want)
I’m on the road again
(And you can do what you want)

Yeah, I came home last night
To get my dinner hot
Went to the door
But the door was locked
Jump through the window
And believe me or not
She hadn’t even
Put my dinner into the pot

I’m on the road again
(And you can do what you want)
I’m on the road again
(And you can do what you want)

Yeah, never been evil
And I’ve never been shy
Every down a champ
And I’m a time by
Down un-winner
With my apple in bed
Look out pretty mama
I’m on the road again

I’m on the road again
(And you can do what you want)
I’m on the road again
(And you can do what you want)

Yeah, never been evil
And I’ve never been sly
Every down a champ
And I’m a time by
Down in the window
With my apple in bed
Look out pretty mama
I’m on the road again
