Counting Crow’s BIG YELLOW TAXI
What better way to start this blog than to take off with one of my best-loved songs of all time? Counting Crow’s Big Yellow Taxi swept away the crowd off their feet way back when I was a freshman in college. The lyrics all caught our fancies because all of us, at one point or other, experienced losing something, someone, and missed it/them, without really meaning to. I know you’ve felt that way too. 
Big Yellow Taxi starts off with descriptions of things that were taken away to give way to seemingly better and more useful things, only to realize that the things they took away meant more now that they were gone. Then, at the last stanza, it implies that the same sense of regret comes over the person as a big yellow taxi took his girl away.
